OLD SCHOOL MID 80'S WESTWOOD MIX
WESTWOOD MID 80'S MIX - From hundreds of Tim Westwood LWR radio shows recorded on an old radio in 1984/85, his shows were groundbreaking, playing all the new import hip hop & electro tunes that hit Groove Records, Bluebird etc sometimes that very day. He also played mixes sent in by listeners, classic live jams from New York featuring Old School DJs & Rappers, & also a break to the beat section where I certainly heard James Brown, Jimmy Castor, Incredible Bongo Band (the list goes on) for the first time and sent me on my quest for funk & breaks of which I am still on! Hope u enjoy highlights include some early Wild Bunch/Massive Attack, cheesy adverts with fake posh accents & some seriously funny listeners letters, incidentally listen out for the competition for the Tommy Boy Greatest Beats woollen hat that I won the following week! The long pauses, gaps, record queuing gaffes, where all genuine & not created by us.
